Got a 2016 S500 that just ticked over ninety thousand kilometers and the little wrench icon lit up on the dash this morning along with the Service B reminder which I'm pretty sure includes an oil change and a bunch of other checks and honestly I've been putting it off for a couple of weeks because the last place I took it to for a simple oil change didn't even use the right spec Mobil 1 and I had to argue with them for twenty minutes about why a twin turbo V8 can't just have whatever bulk 5W30 they had lying around in a barrel. I've been living in Abu Dhabi for about three years now and I still haven't found a shop that I fully trust with this car like the way I used to trust my old independent Mercedes guy back in Manchester who only touched German cars and knew exactly what the electronic service reset procedure was without having to watch a YouTube tutorial on his phone while I stood there awkwardly. I was scrolling through some local car groups on Facebook last night trying to see where other Merc owners around Reem Island and Khalidiya actually take their cars and someone linked a page about maintenance intervals for the W222 chassis and there was a section where you could Learn more about our solutions regarding the different oil grades and filter types which actually looked pretty informative even if the phrasing was a bit corporate for a forum post. Anyway I'm just trying to figure out if I should bite the bullet and go back to the dealer for this one just to keep the service history looking clean or if there's genuinely a reputable independent in the capital that knows the difference between an S Class and a C Class and won't treat my car like it's just another taxi.
