Is it normal for a Lincoln to burn a little oil between changes?

I check my oil every few weeks because I'm a little paranoid after a bad experience with a previous car. On my Lincoln, I've noticed that between oil changes, the level on the dipstick goes down by maybe half a quart or a little more. Not a huge amount, but definitely noticeable. I change my oil every 8,000 kilometers or so, which is what the manual recommends. I asked the shop that does my oil changes about it, and the guy said that some oil consumption is normal for many modern engines, especially if you do a lot of highway driving. He said as long as I'm not seeing blue smoke from the exhaust or needing to add a full quart every thousand kilometers, I shouldn't worry. But I mentioned it to a friend who has a different brand of car, and he looked at me like I was crazy visite here. He said his car doesn't burn a drop between changes and that any oil consumption means something is worn out. Now I don't know what to think. I've been trying to research whether Lincoln engines are known for using a bit of oil as they get older. My car has about 85,000 kilometers on it, so it's not new but it's not ancient either. For other Lincoln owners in Abu Dhabi do you notice your oil level going down between changes? And if so, how much is normal versus how much means I should start saving for a repair? I don't want to ignore something that could get worse, but I also don't want to pay for a tear down if this is just how these engines are.
